Right Now Your Competitors Are Getting Better Than You

Right now, if you aren’t using an Operations Management Platform, either OpsAnalitica or one of our competitors, you are losing ground to your rivals. You don’t see it yet because it’s not one thing that they are doing better, but believe me, they are incrementally beating you operationally. They are able to do this because they are getting better at completing all the little tasks and details that take an experience from ok to awesome, and they are doing it every day in every location.

I’m confident in this claim because I consult very closely with our clients, helping them design new processes, and I see how they are using the platform in ways that we never imagined. I hear first hand how OpsAnalitica is positively impacting their businesses.

Our clients are changing how multi-unit organizations run. It’s honestly mind blowing.

One of our biggest clients started off thinking they would have 3 to 4 daily ops processes in the system.  Now they have over 100 management processes, encompassing every aspect of their business. For the first time, corporate has a direct line of communication with their locations and an easy way to gather data and hold the locations accountable to following procedures.

This same client literally gave us this quote, “you stop us from making million dollar mistakes.”

Over time, companies that are collecting data on their daily operations and are using that data to identify issues, crowdsource solutions, and make better/faster decisions to solve problems that affect sales and customer satisfaction are going to grow faster than the industry.

In Jim Collin’s book Good to Great, one of the traits of great companies was that they grew incrementally and oftentimes the companies didn’t even notice the growth and then all of sudden, like an avalanche, the sum of all those small increases came together and their growth exploded leaving their competitors in the dust.

When you choose to use a platform like ours and to start collecting operations data and use it to make better decisions. You are changing the culture of your company. You are focusing on the details and adding a layer of accountability at all levels of the Operations Department.

As you start operating better, sales, profits, and customer satisfaction all take an upward trajectory and incremental growth begins. More importantly, when sales and profits increase, companies have more resources to press their advantage. You start to see more locations, better sites, more ads, more promotions, more sales, more franchisees, it becomes a self-perpetuating cycle of success.

Ops Management platforms are relatively new, to those people who haven’t had a chance to work with them, I would sum these platforms up like this.

Imagine if you could clone your best manager and have them at every single location, every shift, guiding your team on the best way to do things. Helping the team identify and resolve issues in real-time and simultaneously reporting back everything that they see to corporate so it can be used to make better decisions.

That is what an Ops Management solution can do for your business.  The companies that are adopting this technology are already on the path to being better than they ever were before.

Those of you who haven’t adopted this technology yet, you will, they are going to be as standard as a POS or delivery in the future. It is just going to be a matter of timing.  Some of you will adopt one sooner than later and you will be able to keep pace with your competitors and others will figure it out when it’s too late.

We all think that it can’t happen to us but I went to work at Quiznos in 2008, right after they crested 5000 locations and were one of the biggest chains in the country. I watched from within as that chain imploded. There were a lot of reasons for that implosion, poor store level operations, while not the only reason, was a major factor.
